Blaencamel Farm, Lampeter, Mid Wales

Client: Peter Segger
Completion: March 2011
Project Overview

Blaencamel is a small family-run farm which has been following organic and sustainable practices for 36 years. A very well known organic holding in Britain which has won many awards and mainly produces organic vegetables.

The clients wanted to decarbonise their energy needs, to reduce their carbon footprint and to give them additional security of energy supply.

Work Undertaken

A solar pv system of 39 KD210 (210 watt) modules were installed onto a barn roof. The system was mounted on a metal corrugated roof and required a surface area of approximately 57sq metres including the mounting system. The installation took three days to complete. Dulas project managers ensured the system was installed on time and to budget, meeting NICEIC regulations.

We are producing more electricity than we use by a factor of 80-100% we estimate.

The excess we will use by removing the oil Aga and replacing with an electric alternative. We have been keeping track of how much energy we are generating as a farm and the house for many years. We had done all the usual reduction activities and reduced overall demand by 25% but needed to go that extra mile.
